Beginning 01 January 2021, a new law requires LitJoy Crate, and all online retailers who ship to the U.K., to charge VAT tax on those shipments at the point of sale.
This means that when you purchase from LitJoy, you will see a line item added to your purchase total, indicating the VAT tax charge. Your receipt will be proof of the amount you paid in VAT. When you receive the package in your country, we cannot guarantee that you will not owe an additional amount or customs fees, but we will provide proof of the amount of VAT you already paid.
The tax is generally 20% of the order total (including shipping) for LitJoy's physical products, except for printed books, which are VAT tax-exempt.
All the money that LitJoy collects under the VAT tax will be paid to the U.K. government, in compliance with the law.
Beginning 01 January 2021, LitJoy will be applying sales tax to orders placed in certain qualifying states. This is in compliance with each state's sales tax regulations for online sales. The tax will be determined by your state and will appear as a tax line in your order receipt.
All state sales taxes collected by LitJoy will be paid to that state's government in compliance with state laws.
Below is a current list of states in which LitJoy is obligated to collect sales tax:
We appreciate your business and look forward to a better year for everyone in 2021!
