Aside from water, tea is the most widely consumed beverage in the world. According to a Statista, World Tea News report an estimated 25,000 cups of tea are consumed per second accounting to approximately 2 billion cups of tea a day! Other reports show the number to be more than 3 billion cups a day. Either way, tea is a big deal for both producers and consumers, and that’s why it has its own holiday, and why we’re showing some tea love ourselves on this special day! Here are a few fantastic gift ideas for tea lovers who want to celebrate with us:
A Little Tea Day History
In 2005, tea growers, workers, and consumers in several countries got together to raise awareness and emphasize the importance of the entire tea industry. The first International Tea Day was observed in New Delhi India on December 15, 2005.
By 2019, the United Nations understood it was necessary to get involved in order to provide even more awareness to the tea industry’s critical global importance. The United Nations chose May 21st as the yearly date to celebrate International Tea Day. Many of the countries who originally worked to get tea love recognized still celebrate Tea Day on December 15th, so to honor them, we decided to celebrate the original date with a round up of our tea-inspired products.
