Tristran and Yvaine holding a rope leading to Captain Johannes Alberic's flying ship Perdita | Stardust by Neil Gaiman

Stardust follows Tristran Thorn as he leaves the protection of the town of Wall to venture into the magical realm of Faerie. He begins this epic journey to capture a fallen star to win his beloved Victoria Forester's hand in marriage.

To his surprise, the star is not a rock but a celestial being named Yvaine. Their adventure back to Wall is filled with many challenges, including witches that lust for youth (found in the heart of a star), sky pirates, and other magical beings. The story weaves adventure, romance, and fantasy, exploring themes of love and destiny.

The Stardust Playlist Song Inspiration

The Stardust playlist is inspired by the fantasy elements of Gaiman's story and the deep love that blossoms unexpectedly between Yvaine and Tristran.

Yvaine and Tristran together with the Kingdom of Stormhold behind them

Most of the songs have romance vibes. Of course, there are quite a few mentions of monsters, magic, and other fantasy elements mixed with a little love, like “golden hour” by JVKE and “Little Talks” by Of Monsters and Men.

We couldn't pass up an opportunity to include songs that give direct reference to Yvaine as a fallen star, like “Starchild” by Ghost Quartet and and “Astronomy” by Conan Gray.

This playlist is great for when you need some whimsical, star gazing, fantasy music to pass your day. It also made a great playlist for writing this article.

What songs are your favorite? What would you include? Do you love Tristran as much as we do? Let us know in the comments below!
