Tip-In Art #1: Club Pandemonium by @gonzalom.art
The first tip-in illustration is a scene from City of Bones where Clary Fray and her best friend, Simon Lewis, go to Club Pandemonium for a night of fun. Clary sees the Shadowhunters lure a blue-haired boy (who’s really a demon!) into the storage closet, and she witnesses Jace Herondale grappling with the demon. Isabelle “Izzy” Lightwood and her brother, Alec Lightwood, are also ready to battle, with Izzy wielding her signature whip. While spying on the scene, clumsy Clary gets tangled in some cords and reveals herself to the Shadowhunters by accident.
We chose this scene as tip-in art because it’s the first time Clary meets the Shadowhunters, and it is an iconic moment of The Mortal Instruments series!
Tip-In Art #2: New York Institute by @sophia_volovik
This romantic Jace and Clary scene takes place on Clary’s sixteenth birthday. At midnight, Jace takes her to the top of the New York Institute, where there’s a greenhouse full of beautiful flowers blooming in the moonlight. Jace brings along a picnic and gifts Clary a witchlight, which is a smooth stone that emits a white glow. A witchlight is an important item that all Shadowhunters need, and it’s Clary’s first Shadowhunter item.
