Let's take a peek at the stunning tip-in art included in City of Lost Souls! SPOILER WARNING for fantasy book loverswho have The Mortal Instruments series on their TBR list!

Tip-In Art #1: Sebastian Verlac and Jace Herondale by @sophia_volovik

This two-page spread depicts Clary's dream after Jace has been put under a magical spell by Sebastian and is taken away. The contrast between Jace and Sebastian wings represents a shocking revelation: the darkness of Sebastian's wings symbolizes how he is actually Clary's brother who was given demon blood, while the lightness of Jace's wings symbolizes how he was given angel blood and is therefore not Clary's brother.

Tip-In Art #2: Alec Lightwood and Magnus Bane by @gonzalom.art

"I always need your strength, Alec," Magnus said, and closed his eyes as their intertwined fingers began to shine, as if between them they held the light of a star.

This heartwarming tip-in portrays a scene in the midst of a great battle that has broken out against Sebastian Verlac and his army of dark Shadowhunters. Magnus Bane, high warlock of Brooklyn, gets hurt in the battle and lies in the arms of his boyfriend, Alec Lightwood. In order to heal Magnus, Alec connects hands with him to share his strength.

We chose this scene because it shows a sweet moment where readers are able to see how much love Alec and Magnus have for each other, during a time when they have faced adversity for being a same-sex couple.
