Gentlefriends, the time has come to take a look inside LitJoy’s The Nevernight Chronicle Collector’s Edition Box Set! Included in this special edition box set are all three books in The Nevernight Chronicle by Jay Kristoff: Nevernight, Godsgrave, and Darkdawn.
The Nevernight Chronicle box set comes in a fully illustrated slipcase. Each book has gorgeous faux leather covers (art by @signum.noir) with embossed designs, and comes with illustrated end pages (art by @jjcanvas_art). The page edges also feature a custom design featuring the iconic words: “Never Flinch. Never Fear. Never Forget.”
Let’s peek inside Darkdawn! SPOILER WARNINGfor those who have this dark tale on their TBR list!
The first tip-in art in Darkdawn, drawn by @tomrobertsillustration, shows Mia traversing the Godsgrave necropolis with Ashlinn, her little brother Jonnen, and— surprise!— Tric, who Mia thought was dead and gone. He has been gifted to Mia from Our Lady of Blessed Murder, Niah, as a guide. Tric tells Mia that she has been chosen by Niah to seek The Crown of the Moon, and Tric has been sent to help her find it.
The epic story of the formation of Godsgrave is depicted in tip-in art by @gonzalom.art. After Mia reunites with Tric, he tells the story of Niah, Aa, and their children. Aa banished Niah from the sky for giving birth to a son named Anais. Aa then slayed Anais in his sleep, casting him from the heavens. Aa commanded his followers to turn the place where Anais fell into a temple— and many years later, the god’s grave became the city of Godsgrave.
The menacing Scaeva, surrounded by his shadow serpent, is the focal point of this scene (art by @tombagshaw). This moment happens when Mia intends to get her revenge on Scaeva once and for all, but Scaeva uses the Trinity of Aa to keep her at bay. Scaeva attempts to convince Mia to join him by appealing to the fact that he is her father, even if Mia wants to deny it at all costs.
This tip-in by @dianadworak focuses on one of Jay’s favorite Mia moments. Mia sits atop a throne moments after brutally murdering The King of Scoundrels, Valdyr. With Ashlinn and Tric by her side, she drips with Valdyr’s blood and smokes a cigarillo. Fans will remember the iconic chunk, chunk, chunk sounds from this scene!
The final tip-in art of Godsgrave comes from artist @Jeleynai. In this scene, Mia has finally completed her long journey to The Crown of the Moon, and comes face-to-face with Cleo. As Mia stares at her, she realizes that Cleo has been sustaining herself on the fallen body of Anais all these years. The stark contrast in the art shows off just how epic this scene feels!
