LitJoy is Hiring a Copy Editor. LitJoy Crate is a leading destination for book enthusiasts, offering a curated selection of special edition books and bookish merch collections that immerse people in fictional worlds. We are currently seeking a Copy Editor to help us in reviewing, editing, and writing copy for our marketing department.

Position Description:

As a Copy Editor, you will be creating and reviewing copy to elevate our brand, engage our audience, and enhance the overall customer experience. Working with the Copywriter Lead, you will help LitJoy speak in its unique voice. You will work closely with the Marketing and Product Development departments to ensure cohesive and effective copy. We are seeking an individual with exceptional communication skills, keen attention to detail, self-motivation, and a strong team player mentality. Organizational skills, a customer-centric mindset, and the ability to meet deadlines are also crucial for success in this role.

Compensation:

$17/hour

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 20 hours per week

You will have a lot of flexibility in setting your own schedule, but will definitely need to participate in copy team meetings and be available to respond to internal communication between the hours of 9am and 5pm MST, Monday – Friday.

Responsibilities:

As a Copy Editor, you will be responsible for the following:

Proofreading and Editing:

• Review and edit copy for spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, and style errors.
• Ensure consistency in writing style, tone, and formatting throughout various marketing materials and publications.
• Fact-check and verify information to ensure accuracy and reliability.

SEO

• Use SEO tools to enhance written copy with keywords, alt text, and SEO rich titles.

Supportive Copywriting

• Create compelling and engaging copy for product listings and various marketing materials, including website content, blog articles, social media captions, email campaigns, advertisements, and more.

Education, Experience, and Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess:

• 2 years of proven experience as a Copy Editor or similar role.
• Exceptional command of English grammar, punctuation, and syntax.
• Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to delivering high-quality content.
• Familiarity with style guides, including but not limited to Chicago Manual of Style and AP Style.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent organizational skills, and written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
• Creative mindset with a passion for books, reading, and literature.
