Bookish Resolutions for the New Year

As 2022 comes to an end and we see 2023 on the horizon, take a moment to look back on the year and take inventory of all the things you’ve accomplished this year. What have you worked on, been through, and overcome to get to where you are now? Even mistakes and side steps teach us valuable lessons.Take a moment to be proud of it all, and then let's start thinking about making goals and plans for the new year. Because we are who we are, we’re making a list of Bookish Resolutions for 2023.

Find more reading friends:

Whether you start a book club, join a book club, or find reading groups on social media, it’s always so much fun to read, share, and build community with others. You can even join in book discussions with LitJoy on our various social channels:

Keep track of the books you read:

Track your reading progress and remember favorite scenes, quotes, and characters with a reading journal. Having a reading log of mini book reviews will really help when you gather with friends to talk about your thoughts and opinions on the books, as well. Personalize your journal with a special pen, stickers and washi tape, too!

Visit your local library:

Your local library is a gold mine of stories and information to inspire readers, and it usually has much more to offer than just books. Take a look at the events calendar for interesting classes and author events, most of them are free! Some libraries even have tickets to local attractions, board games, special technology, and even kitchen appliances to check out!

Get lost in the stacks; get to know your librarians; join a library reading challenge. You might be surprised what your library offers when you do!

Get to know your local bookstore:

Just like the library, your local bookstore is a place for bookworms like us to always feel welcome and learn about upcoming releases and book events, like an author visit. If you already frequent one, do you know the names of the employees? If this is nothing new for you, maybe find a new bookstore and do the same.

Make a playlist based on your favorite book(s) or genre:

Read more diverse books:

Challenge yourself to read books with diverse characters and/or authors maybe even in a new genre.
